News reports in the Philippines about recent trade forum meetings are indicating that vehicle import is a hot topic in that country. Manufacturers and their authorized distributors are expressing concern about the influx of vehicles coming in from North America. This feedback is an indication that the Philippines is becoming a stronger market for North American dealers who export overseas.

New List of Vehicle Exporters
At the end of June, Toyota sent to its dealers in the United States a list of companies that have exported vehicles overseas from the USA. Toyota, as with many manufacturers, distributes this information to segment markets and restrict export.
It appears from the Toyota report that much of its data comes from the PIERS report. Some of its data comes from other sources. The list shows which country the vehicles were shipped to.

Do You Sell Warranties on Vehicles Imported into Canada from the U.S.?
Some manufacturers refuse to honor the warranty on vehicles imported into Canada from the United States. Some dealers purchase a replacement warranty to provide coverage to the customer.
Make sure your practice with replacement warranties complies with regulation. Ontario, in particular, has new laws related to warranty products. OMVIC is the regulator in Ontario.
